Edwardsburg Snowmobile Club Storage Facility & Clubhouse Project
The Edwardsburg Snowmobile Club, a registered non-profit organization, in its role as provider of 100 miles marked, groomed and maintained publically available snowmobile trails in southwestern lower Michigan, desires to build a storage facility and meeting building off Redfield Road.
The building will be used for storing and maintaining the grooming and trail preparation equipment. The trail posts and signage supplies will also be stored in the facility. This will allow the Edwardsburg Snowmobile Club to have, for the first time, a centralized facility for all of its equipment and supplies.
This document outlines its approach to completing the project.
In April 2016, the club purchased 2 ½ acre parcel measuring about 420’ by 220’ with access to both Redfield Road and the trails that are maintained by the club.
Thanks to help from Phil Martino, Kirkdorfer Farms and club members, the building site preparation is complete. Further site work will be required for the rest of the property in the future.
The planned facility will be a 36’ by 104’ pole barn with 14’ high sidewalls. The front 60’ will be heated. A 24’ by 32’ attached heated clubhouse is also planned with bathroom facilities included. The building will have a 2-tone attractive street side finish. Access doors for the trail groomer will be power operated.
The floor for the working area of the building is planned to have 5” of concrete. The clubhouse will have a 4” concrete floor.
A club member licensed electrician has committed to wire the facilities and clubhouse.
Insulation & Finishing:
The facilities will need additional volunteer club member assistance work sessions to complete building finishing, insulating and grounds improvements.
Total Project Costs – Currently the club has raised enough money to put up the building shell and pour concrete. Using volunteer help and the assistance of friends of snowmobiling, the club is hoping to raise an additional $35,000.
As of December 16, 2016, the club has received two donations of $5,000, two $500 and $250 for a total of $11,250.
Please consider assisting the club in this fundraising activity.
